Spring Golden Eagle Festival Day Tour
Your journey begins at 10:00 AM, when the Kazakh Tour team picks you up directly from your accommodation in Ulaanbaatar. From there, we drive southwest of the city to the Eagle Festival site, a scenic location about 30–50 minutes away, depending on traffic.
At the festival you will witness an extraordinary cultural event featuring around 20 renowned Kazakh eagle hunters who travel from Western Mongolia to participate. These hunters proudly demonstrate their centuries-old tradition of hunting with golden eagles.
Throughout the day you will enjoy a variety of exciting competitions among the eagle hunters, where the eagles are released from mountain slopes and return swiftly to their masters. In addition, the festival includes traditional Kazakh horseback games, archery, and other nomadic sports that showcase the strength and skills of the steppe people.
The atmosphere is vibrant and festive. Thousands of locals — usually between 3,000 and 5,000 visitors — gather to celebrate this unique cultural event. Visitors will also enjoy traditional Kazakh music and dance performances, including cultural shows featuring performers in beautiful national costumes.
The festival offers countless incredible photography opportunities — from majestic golden eagles in flight to colorful traditional clothing, horse riders galloping across the steppe, and authentic nomadic scenes that look like they belong in a National Geographic story.
Your experienced guide will stay with you throughout the day, explaining the traditions, competitions, and cultural significance of the festival so you can fully appreciate this unique experience.
A local lunch will be served at the festival site restaurant, allowing you to relax and continue enjoying the lively activities and atmosphere.
In the late afternoon, after the competitions conclude, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar and drop you off at your accommodation.
