Golden Eagle Festival Tour 2024 Mongolia,  This fantastic Golden Eagle festival combined cultural photographing tour takes place in Western Mongolia, on Altai mountains, one of the longest mountain chains in Central Asia. There are about 250 eagle hunters around Bayan Ulgii province. Every year about 100 eagle hunters participate to this Eagle festival with their specially trained Golden Eagles.

Spectacular events include competitions based on speed, agility, and accuracy of these magnificent Golden Eagles and some great Kazakh traditional games such as Kokbar, archery and traditional horse racing etc are also organized on the festival days.

This fantastic Eagle festival celebrating the Kazakh's honored Golden Eagle is also a celebration of Kazakh traditional heritage. The highlights of this fantastic trip is interacting with the Kazakhs and other ethnic groups and living with them for a couple of days to take part in the eagle training and hunting, camel riding and get to know about the unique Kazakh culture. Landscape and cultural sightseeing blend easily in Mongolia – you will have the chance to visit families of nomads   – there are also endless opportunities for photography.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF THE GOLDEN EAGLE FESTIVAL 2024 TOUR

Day 1: Tue, 1st Oct 2024.  Arriving to Ulaanbaatar  + D (D=Dinner).

Arrive to Ulaanbaatar (UB), capital of Mongolia. Our driver would pick up you at the Ulaanbaatar Chinggiskhan international airport, then you would get to transferred to hotel which is located right at the center of Ulaanbaatar, very close to Sukhbaatar main square.

Our guide would meet you at the lobby at 18:00 and would give some briefing about the tour then we would have dinner at one of the know restaurants. Be ready to fly to the west tomorrow morning for the Golden eagle festival!

Day 2: 2nd Oct 2024 Fly to Western MONGOLIA, to BAYAN ULGII province  +BLD 

Depart from UB at early in the morning via hunnu airlines and Arrive to Ulgii after 3 hours of flight, in the morning. We would pick up  you from Ulgii airport by our SUVs then we would take you to our hotel. Depending on your flight arrival time we would visit museum in Ulgii town before the lunch. After lunch we would drive out to Boken mountain which is about 2700 meters high from sea level, to see the Ulgii town from up high. You would have chance to take great landscape pictures. After that we would visit a local nomad family in the region to observe the way of kazakh nomad people. Late afternoon we would come back to our hotel and would have dinner at 18:30 at Turkish restaurant in town. After dinner we would have small welcome party.

Day 3: 3rd Oct 2024 - Experiencing Nomadic culture and True life HUNTING with EAGLEs! +BLD

Are you ready for a full adventurous day? Today we are heading to an eagle hunter who lives in the countryside. We would drive through beautiful mountainous area via beautiful Tolbo lake to the destination. We would have some stops to get pictures of beautiful landscape pictures and the nature. On the way we would visit a famous shaman throat singer and we would stop at Tolbo village center, then to the eagle hunter. We are going to have lunch at a beautiful spot at Tolbo lake. After the lunch, we would visit eagle hunter’s family where you would have chance to get in to the nomadic culture and would have deep knowledge of hunting with eagles. We would have time to shoot photos of beautiful Sair mountain (13000ft) from our camp and may have chances to ride horses close to our campsite. After the dinner we would have a shaman ceremony. Great opportunities to get great photos, uniqe for Kazakh tours!

We would set up a temporary ger camp (Ger means Mongolian nomad tent, or yurt) on the foot of 4000 meter high Sair mountain, only for this group. We are going to stay 1 night at this ger camp.

Day 4: 4th Oct 2024 - True life Hunting with EAGLE +BLD

More exciting activities are waiting for you! After a big western style breakfast in our ger restaurant we would go for eagle hunting. It is like safari, that we would use our cars to get some mountains and on some places we would hike with the eagle hunters. There is going to be about 6 eagle hunters joining together. Our eagles might catch fox, rabbit or other smaller animals. It is very rare that eagles catch wolf. Also we would have chance to talk with eagle hunters and ask questions about eagle hunting. On some point we would have to drive up on the mountains to follow the hunters while we would have chances to photograph incredible landscape. After the hunting we would drive back to Ulgii city which is gonna be 2 hours from the place where we are. We would stay at hotel for 3 nights for the coming eagle festival days.

Day 5-6:  Sat & Sun, 5th-6th Oct 2024 - Golden Eagle festival +BLD

It is going to be the most exciting 2 days. Are you ready?
After the breakfast at our hotel, we would move to Hunter’s hill at 10:15am in the morning which is the place where the eagle festival is going to be held. At this place we would give you the printed copy of itinerary of the eagle festival. Also we would give some information about the eagle festival just before you have your breakfast. At the hunter's hill you will not have interpreter or guide with you all the time. Because there is going to be only 2 guides for the group. But if you need assistance anytime you can go to our gers at the eagel festival site and call the guide on the walkie talkie. He would be right there. We would keep update you with the events happening there.
We have gers (Ger means Nomad tent ) at eagle festival site, so anytime when you want you can use the ger to rest or to get warmed up and have tea and coffee. Only Kazakh tour clients have this chance. We would serve lunches at these gers.(Like the picture on the right)  Dinners are in the town, in a restaurant.  Let us know in advance if you need a private interpreter for these 2 days. But we do not recommend, coz just no need.

Day 7:  7th Oct 2024– Departure+ BLD                   

After the breakfast at our hotel we are going to drive heading to Khovd province. On the way we would drive through the Tsambagarav national park and would visit a nomad Mongol family, then to Khovd province. for lunch we would have special Mongolian meal called Khorkhog. The way of cooking this meal is very interesting.. You would learn more while you are there! We would have some additional options for those who doesn't like meat. After this special meal we would drive further to Khovd province, where we would visit local Budhis temple. There would we much more interesting things that are not written here. Then we would check in to hotel and gonna spend the night here in town. After the dinner you would have enough time to pack for the flight tomorrow

Day 8: 8th Oct 2024– Departure+ B+D                  

We would depart Khovd in the morning and arrive to UB by mid day. You would get transferred to Kempinsky hotel after you arrive to UB airport. Then you would have the whole afternoon to explore the city or shopping. Mongolian cashmere products are popular. By 19:00 we would have farewell dinner.

Day 9: 9th Oct 2024– Departure+ B

You would get transferred to airport for your international flight. Hotel check out time is 13:00.
